Board Member. Global Business Leader. Strategist. Advisor. Dreamer.
Author. Founding Trustee. Master of ‘Nothing’.

Beyond those corporate veneers, Navneet spent three decades navigating boardrooms by day and chasing dreams by night. An alumnus of MNNIT Allahabad and a Gold Medalist from IIM Kozhikode, Navneet is known for his uncanny ability to decipher when nothing is just enough for something.

Given this mastery, he has been in a lifelong tango with fact and fiction. Now, armed with wit & unapologetic honesty he unmasks the elegant absurdities of ambition, work, relationships, and the myths we mistake for meaning.

Navneet divides his time between Singapore and India, surrounded by his father, wife, sister, two children, four fish, and five dogs—Ginger, Leo, Ollie, Oreo, and Zoro—each a character in his ongoing tales of wit and wisdom.

In an age where 30-second attention spans are starting to resemble divine miracles, Doublespeak breaks the mold with bite-sized wisdom and literary wit.  These compact chronicles are layered with encyclopedic references, social commentary, and uncommon common sense―each one a mirror to the absurdities we call normal.

If you enjoy books that challenge your assumptions with humor and clarity, Doublespeak offers a refreshing lens on ambition, identity, and everyday dysfunction. These chronicles are quick to read but slow to forget. They don’t preach who you should be―they provoke who you already are.

Doublespeak: Chronicles of Wit and Wisdom” by Navneet Jhamb is a narrative gestural tribute to George Orwell’s 1984. This book took its form from Navneet’s brainchild झुण्ड (Jhund), a LinkedIn newsletter in the form of “Chronicles of Wit and Wisdom.” The enzyme ‘alliinase‘ helps handle blood pressure and cholesterol, which is released when we peel an onion. Similarly, Double Speak helps break down complex emotions and vocalize solutions to your unanswered, mundane questions.

Book précis!!!

Split across NINE beautiful chapters, Navneet unveils ground realities and shares practical knowledge with the help of his friends; Ginger, Leo, and many more. None of the units under a chapter lasts longer than two pages; Navneet secures full marks for his crisp and profound knowledge-sharing ability. This work truly reflects the antithesis of imbecility in opportunism, congruence, and corporate culture.

The provocative wisdom Navneet wished to offer his readers gives the taste of genuine affinity beyond pulpitry. I don’t just praise the humour and sagacity in this treatise, I adore Navneet’s presence of mind in presenting much needed topics to the audience in an innovative and riveting manner. This book was my metro companion while I hopped to my workplace. All the thirty-six chronicles are extremely quick and nudge a sharper weltanschauung (thanks to my German understanding :D).

Bovid Conundrum‘ made me realize the need for mimicking a cow, buffalo, or even a human handling their own thunderstorms. ‘Sensible Nonsense’ made me think deeper, realizing the relative proportions of happiness. ‘Prisoner’s Dilemma’ made me realize the true meaning of freedom for the self-interested. ‘The Incredulous Fool’ gave me the taste of becoming an incredulous fool, which will always be a matter of choice. ‘Breaking Bad’ unveils a new way of life and to always be different, and so on.

Navneet pumps the book with tons of mentions from eminent dignitaries, real-life examples, empirical citations, use cases, quotes, adages, anecdotes, reality checks, and so on. I’m sure these nibble-sized offerings serve as marshaled mentors for facing everyday corporate chaos. Special thanks to Navneet for making my coffee breaks special; as I pick one nugget at a time, throw it on the table, and share the insights and apprehensions with my fellow colleagues. I have been applauded for my thoughts and impressions on these respected topics (they aren’t aware of Navneet Jhamb’s share in my proficiency flaunt!).

The artistic imprint of ‘Monica Maini’ deserves a special mention in this work, from the cover image to all Thirty-Six Units. I unrepentantly spent time gawping at these illustrations and the meanings each creature tries to convey in its respective unit. I used to revisit them, discovering connections with the presented content as well. Special mention to Aparna, Navneet’s better half, who kept him engaged throughout; after all, Oscar Wilde resonates with the words: “The man who says his wife can’t take a joke forgets that she took him.”

Topics like financial management, FOMO, Storytelling, Pride & Prejudice, procrastination, teamwork, Banana Affairs, Mummy’s Life-Saver Tips, Rat Chases, Peanut Justice, Dignitas, and so on will leave an efficacious impression on readers’ hearts. I love the author’s take on ChatGPT and breaking the myths of AI taking over human jobs. I second his thoughts on human creativity and censorious ability, emphasizing DoubleSpeak as a mirror to our own contradictions.

Pro Tip: As this book covers both sensible and ludicrous aspects, I urge my fellow readers to pay double attention while consuming this content. It also challenges the reader’s ability and perceptual deciphering capability on the topics presented. I strongly recommend keeping an open mind throughout the read. I confess to sensing turbulent perceptions while going through a few chapters; nevertheless, I was happy to capture the deeper foresights Navneet chose to give away.

For me, Doublespeak is a true standout, offering laughter, pauses, humour, profound learnings from corporate chronicles, underlying wisdom exposed, a non-preachy style, and reflective reality. For those who enjoy intellectual humour and life lessons via illustrative presentation, this book offers an unforgettable experience. I’m damn sure this book will be one of my best picks for the year. I’m sure I will revisit this work—and those dog-eared chapters—again and again.
