Book Presentment..!!
“Unashamed” is a formal sex therapist guide from Neha Bhat, known for her psychotherapy skills and creative wellness expertise. In this book, Neha provides a systematic healing therapy supported by ample case studies and scenarios she encountered in her professional journey. She strongly emphasizes the need and importance of addressing emotional and sexual connections, as well as those aspects often labeled as “adult content” or “shame talks“
Book Insight..!!
Coming from a family where discussions about sexuality and sensuality were considered misdemeanors, I found Neha’s articulation refreshing. She presents the content from the perspective of therapy and fulfillment. Although I dared to pick up this book several months ago, terms like orgasm, sexual shame, love-making, sexual trauma, and adulthood initially made me hesitant to complete it.
Book Motif..!!
The entire book showcases Neha’s expertise in therapy and healing, emphasizing the societal need for individuals to undergo these processes to become sex-positive. She addresses readers from every age group and acknowledges their diverse needs, which arise from surrounding misconceptions and shame that often lead to trauma and suffering.
What’s special inside the book..!!
In this book, she dispels many myths inherited from so-called ancestral practices and outdated norms that were followed without question. She rightly highlights the need for emotional connection and understanding partnerships as essential entry points to living a shame-free life.
This is one of those books that deeply examines shame and its repercussions, whether it’s about handling shame, healing from it, or understanding its impact on sexual health. Neha also guides readers in drafting personalized plans by exploring various healing aids.
My pick from this book..!!!
She includes key takeaways and exercises at the end of each chapter to help readers consolidate their learnings. Coming from an urban town, I sincerely thank the author for encouraging me to explore healing and therapy sessions and for helping me realize a previously unexplored dimension of well-being.
Conclusion..!!!
I’m glad that I couldn’t find any aspect of this book needing improvement. However, I am eagerly awaiting Neha to address a topic that is equally under-discussed in Indian culture.
My personal advice to readers is not to rush through this book. Take your time to absorb its content, make your own notes or journals, and act accordingly. After all, adoption is far more important than rapid accomplishment.
