One of the things I appreciated most was how simple the storytelling is. Rather than presenting a timeline filled with dates and milestones, the story unfolds through conversations between a grandfather and his curious grandchildren. Their questions make even complex subjects like palliative care, the functioning of inhalers, and oral iron chelators feel easy to understand, and the comic-book format keeps the narrative engaging throughout.
The People Behind the Legacy…!!!
As I read further, I found myself wanting to learn more about some of the remarkable people who shaped Indian healthcare. Scientists like Upendra Nath Brahmachari, Yellapragada SubbaRow, and of course, Dr. Khwaja Abdul Hamied remind us that behind every medical breakthrough are years of perseverance, curiosity, and a desire to improve lives.
Dr. Khwaja Abdul Hamied’s story especially stayed with me. At a time when India depended heavily on imported medicines, he envisioned an Indian pharmaceutical company that could make quality medicines more accessible. What began as an ambitious dream in 1935 gradually grew into one of India’s most respected healthcare companies.

I loved how the book just doesn’t celebrate Cipla through numbers or achievements alone. Instead, it tells the story of a company that has gradually become a household name across generations, earning people’s trust through its values as much as its medicines. This comes through in many parts of the comic, whether it’s making medicines accessible, supporting patients through palliative care, or encouraging innovation that begins with simple observations, like drawing inspiration from a child’s whistle while designing an inhaler.
One chapter that really caught my attention was how the comic explains Cipla’s role in advocating for changes to India’s patent laws. It presents a complex idea in a way children can understand: that sometimes, helping people means standing up for what is right, even if it isn’t easy. It was a thoughtful reminder that real change often begins with courage and persistence.
