About the Author..!!
Billa Tulasi writes with the hope of encouraging people to step beyond their comfort zones and live on their own terms. She believes that love and support are precious, but true strength comes when we also learn to stand independently and embrace the joy of freedom.
Silent Weight, grew from her own experiences and the stories she has witnessed around her. She feels many readers — women and men alike — will find reflections of their own lives in its pages, because dependence quietly touches countless homes and hearts.
Through her writing, Tulasi hopes to inspire, especially the younger generation, to take small but meaningful steps toward independence, not as separation from others, but as a way of discovering their
voices, choices, and dreams more fully.
Book Description..!!
What happens when comfort turns into a cage?
We grow up leaning on parents, partners, and friends — believing dependence is love. But what if the very support we trust begins to erase who we are?
The Gravity of Dependence is a heartfelt self-help reflection by Billa Tulasi, exploring how dependence quietly shapes generations, disguising itself as care, duty, or belonging. Through real stories and personal experiences, Tulasi reveals how modern life still binds us with invisible threads — from family expectations to friendships to social media validation.

This book is not about rejecting love or connection. It is about balance. About learning to lean without losing yourself, to love without fear, and to discover freedom not as isolation, but as wholeness.
If you have ever wondered, “Who am I when I stand alone?” — this book will help you find the answer.
Dependency Metaphor..!!
Being a Viṣṇu Bhakta, I staunchly believe in the theology as expressed in the Vedas, Purāṇas, and Itihāsas — “swatantrao vyāptavān Hariḥ.” Śrī Hari, the Supreme Lord who governs the universe, is self-dependent and omnipotent. As His devotees, we are always dependent upon Him and bound by His sacred laws, known as dharma — obligation and righteousness.
Ideologically, being dependent on the Supreme Lord Viṣṇu yields divine fruits such as Jñāna (knowledge), Bhakti (devotion), and Vairāgya (detachment). Yet, knowingly or unknowingly, we often find ourselves entangled in the clutches of self-dependency and struggle to break free from it.

Book précis…!!!
“The Gravity of Dependence” is a thoughtful anecdote that unveils the hidden evil called DEPENDENCE. Explicitly or implicitly, we as individuals struggle with this maniac called dependency. For some, it is to a certain extent, while for many others, it exceeds the level of self-control. To some extent, I agree with Tulasi’s view of dependence as harmless and a source of comfort. However, an excessive dependence in one’s life often leads to the formation of a strong, shatterproof cage around us.
Why This Book Stands Out?
Tulasi, through this work, cautions her readers to break the walls and craft a pathway to stand alone and enrich their decision-making capacity. She draws from her own life lessons to bring conceptual relativity to readers, and I love the use cases throughout, especially her grandmother’s story.

Book Prelude..!!
Interestingly, she calls dependence a hereditary sovereignty, though our mind maps pretend dependence is a safe checkpoint. This is undeniably the prime reason for personal seclusion.
Tulasi identifies numerous patterns that show how the culprit dependency slowly creeps into the individual’s mind and conquers the sovereignty of the psyche. These tightly coupled chains reside in individual minds, eventually making our existence increasingly difficult. In this work, Tulasi helps her readers identify and break those chains to free the mind, body, and soul, enabling them to witness a better tomorrow.
Who is this book for?
This book is for anyone who feels emotionally or psychologically overdependent on people, habits, or beliefs and wants to break those patterns to stand more confidently on their own. Individuals who sense that dependence on relationships, routines, or comfort zones, and those who are seeking self-reflection tools, such as prompts and habit-building ideas, to strengthen decision-making, embrace healthy solitude, and balance love with independence in everyday life.

My Thoughts.!!
My favorite section of this book is Chapter Seven, where Tulasi strategically differentiates between loneliness and being alone. I appreciate how she helps readers discover the essence of solitude and its pivotal connection to dependence. She concludes the book by guiding readers to find the right balance between love and independence
End Note..!!!
Don’t miss Tulasi’s FIVE HABIT approach at the end of the book; for me, this is the best takeaway. Also noteworthy are the prompts and quotes in every chapter; after all, these serve as enablers to reflect upon the respective individual learnings.
Quote(s)..!!
- Dependence often comes disguised as love
- Loneliness and being alone are not the same.
- Dependence pretends to keep us safe, but in truth, it often leaves us lonelier than ever.
